Leaving Newport Beach, CA on New Years Day 2008 the reality of the daunting task they have before them sets in. 75 pounds of weight on trailers they pull, coupled with 30mph head wind push Jeff and Mike to their limits and nearly terminate the ride before the end of the first day.
Arriving in Las Vegas a week later, riders learn about water conservation in a desert. Annual rainfall in this region is 4”. How does that affect consumption of water for its 2 million residents?
Gloomy weather, steep uphill climbs and flat tires plague the journey as Jeff and Mike enter into the State of Arizona. In Ash Fork, AZ they meet up with a fire ecologist from Northern Arizona University, to learn about the implications of fire and a warming climate.
